Two points.

#1. I walked past the tube (yes, my TV has a tube) a few minutes ago and MSNBC was telling me all about the killings and woundings at Ft. Hood. I quickly turned to FOX and CNN. They both had commercials on. I checked back after two minutes. Both still had commercials on. MSNBC was busy getting us the facts, as best they could.

#2. I think the problem is bigger than most of the posters here. The problem is not a distrust of science; it is a problem of the mistrust of the government. Since the Kennedy shooting and Viet Nam, Americans have lost a certain amount of confidence in the veracity of their government. I do not want to come off as a Kennedy conspiracy nut; I am not. And I know full well that in war, the first casualty is the truth. And it certainly did not help for Ronald Reagan to tell us this: <link>
