As I understand it, the insurance companies are charging the patients less, which is why they agree to go. Some people without insurance are taking part in this "medical tourism," too. I was very glad to see that CNN finally talked about it on TV...it had only been shown before in a "Boston Legal" episode. So much for Sean Hannity and his Big Lie that Canadians come HERE for health care but Americans never go anywhere else.

Insurance companies don't make such decisions they may offer discounts if you do but the simply cannot choose where you treatment occurs. They do have pricing schedules to help you decide more rconomical options and such thins as in-network and out of network re-imbursement schedules but they can't tell you how or where to get your treatment.

I did not see anything on CNN and I do not listen to Hannity. But I do live 30 miles from the Canadian border and have what I refer to as neighbors up there and them down here.

I travel a lot. So I talk and see Canadians here and in Mexico. (oh, also in Alaska at times, it is closer to some Yukon residents) There system is not broke, it is just that the system in many things seems to take for ever to get an appointment. I stopped for medical care in British Columbia a couple of times and once in Calgary. I had very good care, but I paid them in US dollars and they were happy. Now when you get to Europe there are some good places and some not so good. But there also it take for ever to get appointments.

Have a great day.
