There is no point in electing a Republican who will vote Democrat. There is zero strategic benefit to it. I don't know what the party insiders thought they were doing with this appointment. The energy is not in the moderate end of the party anyway. Have these people not seen the tea party rallies? Do they see the ratings of Fox news? Do they see the falling poll numbers for the Pres and others involved in this years tax, spend, and regulate crime spree?

The powers that be in the Republican party see the horrifying polls that show the GOP dying a quick death (only 20% of Americans openly admit to being a Republican). So this is why the likes of Newt Gingrich and others are worried like shit that those teabaggers and birther types are taking the party quickly over the edge of no return.

Teabagger rallies and Fox News' ratings won't save the Republican party. It's over.
