We need more wolves.
by EASYRIDER

The spread of the coyote throughout the entire U.S is a direct result of lack of wolves. Wolves are the coyotes arch enemy and without healthy wolf populations throughout the US, the coyotes population has exploded. Coyotes are extremely clever and adaptable creatures, more so than the wolf which needs a larger wild area to roam. Leave our great wolves alone. There has never been a documented attack by a wolf on a human. So what if a few sheep get killed. It's just the cost of doing business.

Let's dump em all in YOUR BACK YARD.........till you get educated....

To Truett Collins,

Oh, I'm educated but you, my friend, may need additional education. You can dump them all in my backyard if you like but I think my neighbors may object.

If you dump wolves in someone's back yard, the wolves will simply leave.

Racoons, on the other hand, will break into your house, eat your pet food, poop on your porch, and generally raise hell.

Don't worry about the big animals; worry about the small ones.

Termites will do you more harm than will wolves.

Then lets send you the bill for the calf they killed the other day....lest see.....that will also include the milk she would have produced when she matured.....each calf that she might have had over her life time.....the value of the beef from each male calf she might have had.....the off spring of each female calf she him have produced.....add it all up and it comes to about $500,000 dollars....and that was just one calf.

Your neighbors might object.......so you want them in others back yards.....

EASYRIDER:

This is just not true. Wolf attacks are remarkably rare...even in an area with a large wolf population, you're probably more likely to be injured by a neighbor's dog or a stray bullet from a human hunter (or a bear or cougar). But they are large predators that have killed people in Canada and India, and should be respected as such.

I'm all in favor of more wolves, I doubt they'd kill more sheep than they coyotes they displace, etc., but I wouldn't let my kids out unattended in an area that had hungry wolves on the prowl.

Thanks for the news stories. I was wrong about humans attacked by wolves. I have always heard that they just didn't do it. But still, I would rather encounter a wolf than a bear, cougar, lion or tiger.

Yes. That is why veal costs $500,000.

Sounds like fuzzy math to me.

We'll just call it even the next time one of your cows drops twins. In the long run, you will no doubt come out ahead.

You are an idiot Wolves are a NIGHTMARE!!! If you don't want coyotes just get more people like me to kill them for you!!! If you think they should take care of over population there is an over population of people to would you like some in your back yard or something!!!
Re: We need more wolves.

Perhaps your fear of wolves is just that: part of your nightmares.

And thank you, but no. We have too many people running around with high powered rifles as it is. Those bullets tend to travel a long, long ways. They seldom hit the doofus who fires them, but they make the rest of us a little uneasy.

I certainly hope you can shoot better than you can write. Your writing seems to be at the 4th grade level. And your logic leaves a little to be desired. You make unprovoked leaps from nightmare wolves to coyotes to people in my back yard or something!!!

No kidding.

I don't want people living in my back yard, but I don't mind them living next door. Same with coyotes, I don't want them in my back yard, but I don't mind them in the neighborhood. Wolves wouldn't survive in my neighborhood, but if I moved to better habitat I'd have the same attitude about them (I'd be more careful when letting my own dog out, though). Is that what you mean?

If I had livestock, I'd be very worried about wolves. They're just more formidable than the other predators. But they can be coped with.
